What is a bouquet subscription CSA?

When you purchase a subscription, you are essentially signing up for a "share" of our farm and the flowers we grow. Through that share, you will receive a weekly bouquet of gorgeous flowers for the duration of the subscription. This is modeled after vegetable CSAs that are typically more common. A CSA, or community supported agriculture, offers the community a way to support their local farmer, and in return, reap the benefits of that farm's harvest. Together, we share the ups and downs (but mostly ups) of the growing season. Flowers go wild one week? Everyone gets some extra stems in their bouquets. The dahlias want to be stingy another week? Then we pivot and adjust. And in the extremely rare event that Mother Nature has it out for us, we share those losses too. However, we do promise that we make every effort possible to mitigate crop losses and extreme weather that can both impact our flowers. We work endlessly to prepare for whatever nature can throw our way!

So why these flowers?

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, roughly 80% of flowers sold are imported from other countries. Of the remaining 20%, the majority are grown in California. This means that those grocery store flowers have spent days (or even weeks!) in a box travelling to you. At Snotown Stems, the flowers you receive are extremely fresh, usually cut that morning or evening before. So not only do you get the longest vase life as possible, you know exactly where the flowers come from and who you're supporting.

Can I request specific flowers?

Each of our subscription bouquets is carefully curated to bring the best blooms of the week into your home. Think of it as a small snapshot of the season; a way to hang on to that moment a little longer. At this time we won’t be able to personalize the bouquets or take special requests, but we promise to only send you the very best from our farm to your home

When and where do I pick up my flowers?

We have two pickup locations and two different days (one weekday, one weekend day) to hopefully accommodate everyone who is interested in our subscriptions. Pick the one that will work best for you when adding the subscription to your cart. Need to change your location or pickup day mid-subscription? Send us an email!

As for the subscription start date, while we have a good idea when the season will start, we're still at the whim of Mother Nature. You'll receive an email notification from us 7-10 days before your first pickup date. Don't worry about remembering... if you provide us with your phone number upon checkout, we'll send you a reminder text the morning of your pickup.

I can't pick up my bouquet, what do I do?

If you contact us at least 48 hours before your pickup, we will try to accommodate you, whether this be by changing your date or location that week or even delivering to you for that week only ($5 additional fee). If you are heading out of town, we encourage you to have a friend or family member pickup your flowers. (They make a great gift!) Bouquets not picked up will be donated locally.

How are the bouquets packaged?

Our bouquets are almost always wrapped in brown kraft paper and twine, both of which are compostable and biodegradable. To keep your bouquets fresh until they're safely at home with you, we use both hydration wraps and bags and these are plastic free, compostable, and biodegradable as well.

How long can I expect my bouquet to last?

We guarantee our bouquets to last 5-7 days (sometimes even longer!) as long as our flower care recommendations are followed. Please know that all of our flowers are handpicked in peak condition but varieties can have a different vase life, especially dependent on care and environmental conditions. Occasionally we might include a flower with a shorter vase life because it's scent or beauty is too hard to pass up (like sweet peas, dahlias, or garden roses). In this case, just pluck out the flowers that are past their prime and keep on enjoying your bouquet. Our flower care recommendations can be found here.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Once your order is placed, you will have three days to reach out to us if you need to cancel. We plan our planting and harvests around subscription numbers; so refunds, either full or prorated, will only be given on a case by case basis. We encourage you to either gift or transfer your subscription to another person. Life happens and we will do everything possible to accommodate changes.
